We were delighted to have both HRH Princess Anne and her husband Vice-Admiral Timothy Laurence visit the Irish National Stud on Saturday (10th March). Her mother, Queen Elizabeth, visited the Irish National Stud in May, 2011 and we didn’t anticipate another royal visit so soon, so reports of that trip must have been very favorable!

We were proud to be able to showcase some of our finest active and also retired racehorses against the beautiful backdrop of the National Stud. Many invited guests were in attendance including Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney. They were treated to a tour of the Japanese Garden’s and St. Fiachra’s Garden by John Osborne followed by a stallion show which then culminated in a pony-riding and carriage-driving display by the R.D.A.I. (Riding for the Disabled Association of Ireland). The Princess who is President of the R.D.A.I. presented the riders Amy Tyrrell, Mary Fulton, Brendan Herbert, Finn Gannon and the carriage-driver Liam McSweeney with rosettes.

Princess Anne was very relaxed and generous with her time happily chatting to our guests and was delighted to meet our ‘Living Legends’ team of Florida Pearl, Moscow Flyer and Vintage Crop. It was another historic day here and we were all extremely proud to have been a part of it.
