Spanish Flame, sired by Phoenix of Spain, achieved a remarkable victory today at Roscommon racecourse, becoming his sire’s fourth individual winner. Trained by Ger Lyons and owned by Vincent Gaul, Spanish Flame won the €25,000 Irish EBF Median Sires Series race by an impressive margin of six lengths. The talented racehorse was purchased as a foal for €34,000 from Farran House Stud at the Goffs November foal sales, with Wyanstown House being the buyer.
Phoenix of Spain has established an impressive track record, with nine runners thus far, resulting in four winners. Notably, three of those victories were secured with a remarkable winning margin of six lengths, showcasing the sire’s exceptional progeny. Additionally, one of Phoenix of Spain’s offspring achieved victory on their debut outing, further highlighting the sire’s promising bloodline.
Post race, Trainer Ger Lyons quoted; ‘ I think we have a nice bunch of two-year-olds and he’s definitely one of them. I’m delighted for Vincent and Geraldine (Gaul) who come up with a good one every so often. The Chesham could be an option for Ascot.’
