Local Hero Shines Bright at Kempton Park Debut

Kempton Park Racecourse was buzzing with excitement as Local Hero, the promising young racehorse trained by Richard Hannon and owned by John Pescod, made a spectacular debut under the skillful guidance of jockey Sean Levey.

The son of Phoenix of Spain settled comfortably in fourth position early on, biding his time and patiently awaiting his moment to shine. As the race unfolded, he began to make his move, and when the crucial two-furlong mark arrived, he launched a powerful challenge that left his competitors in the dust winning by an impressive 5 lengths.

He is the ninth individual winner out of 21 runners sired by the Gr.1 Irish 2,000 Guineas champion, Phoenix Of Spain.

Local Hero’s journey to the winner’s circle began at Ringfort Stud, where he was bred by a partnership. His pedigree includes a strong lineage of winners, with Local Hero being the third winner out of six runners from his dam, the juvenile winner and Listed Empress Stakes runner-up, Pearl Diva (Acclamation).

He was purchased at the Tattersalls Somerville sale by  Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock for  37,000gns. It’s clear that this investment has already paid off handsomely, as Local Hero’s debut victory has sent ripples of excitement throughout the racing community.

Local Hero’s sire, Phoenix Of Spain, deserves special mention. With a remarkable 43% winners-to-runners strike rate, Phoenix Of Spain has already produced Group 2 Vintage Stakes winner Haatem, also trained by Richard Hannon.

With his impressive pedigree, exceptional debut performance, and a dedicated team supporting him, the future looks bright for Local Hero, and we can’t wait to see what he’ll achieve in the races to come.
