Christmas Cheer for Exit Poll & Elusive Pimpernel

9th Jan 2019

Exit Poll provided another big success for our own Elusive Pimpernel on St. Stephen’s Day at Leopardstown for trainer Jessica Harrington. Owned by S. Mulryan and bred by Shane Lawlor, the imposing gelding was settled just behind the leaders by jockey Finian Maguire before finishing off the race strongly to come home to victory by a length. The gelding is a full-brother to exciting novice chaser and Triumph Hurdle 4th, Ex Patriot also trained by Jessica Harrington, both horses look to have very exciting futures for our young sire.

Where potential was fulfilled on this occasion by Exit Poll, for another son of Elusive Pimpernel it was a case of what might have been, as Coeur Sublime crashed out at the final hurdle when looking the winner in the Gr.2 Juvenile Hurdle. Although the result was disappointing at the time, the gelding certainly looks to have a bright future and is certainly still a big player for the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
