While Kingman has been carrying all before him in the mile division you could be forgiven for overlooking the exploits of Gr.1 Prix Jean Prat winner; Charm Spirit who tackled the Gr.1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp on Sunday.
The winner of two group races in France since coming fifth in what must have been one of the best runnings of the Newmarket 2000 Guineas, the Invincible Spirit colt was sent off fourth in the betting.
Ridden by Thierry Jarnet on the heels of the favourite, dual Gr.1 winner Toronado, Charm Spirit had all the answers coming into the final 3 furlongs of the race as no matter how hard Richard Hughes tried, the Queen Anne winner was always held. The winning margin was just a head.
Charm Spirit has now won 5 of his 8 starts, with 2 of them coming at the highest level meaning Invincible Spirit colts have sewn up 6 Group 1’s over a mile in 2014.
