Celsius wins at Haydock

10th Jun 2020

Celsius, a 4 year old son of Dragon Pulse was impressive yesterday when landing The Betway Handicap at Haydock races for trainer Tom Clover and owners Jon Collins, Chris Fahy and Steve Piper.  Celsius was a four-time winner in 2019, including at Glorious Goodwood, and he has stepped up again to win on this seasonal return by half a length.

Racing Post analysis wrote  ‘won four times over this 5f trip between June and August last year including twice over this C&D. He was competing from 6lb higher than for the latest of those victories at Glorious Goodwood. The likeable 4yo continued his progression here with a neat victory from off the pace despite a modest start.’

Post race Tom Clover commented ‘Celsius  has matured really well from three to four and he’s much more grown up about his racing, he switched off well today. It looks like we can really consider six furlongs again now. We can look for something a bit nicer now’

Celsius is out of Grecian Artisan an unraced daughter of Mastercraftsman from the Family of Persuasive. He has a two year old full sister who sold to JS Bloodstock at Goffs UK from her breeders Owenstown Stud.

Congratulations to connections, Celsius looks a horse with a progressive future.
