Bocca Baciata, a daughter of Big Bad Bob had taken the notable scalps of subsequent Gr.1 winners Pleascach and Diamondsandrubies in the Listed Salsabil Stakes back in April before finishing fifth behind Pleascach in the Gr.1 Irish 1,000 Guineas.
Running in the Gr.3 Dance Design Fillies Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday she took the lead before the furlong marker and was pushed out to comfortably outclass her rivals, going away, by four lengths, chased home by Ballydoyle’s Easter (Galileo) and the year older Brooch (Empire Maker), a dual Group winner.
The winning trainer Jessica Harrington said afterwards: “I’m delighted to have her back, as we were having a little bit of a difficult summer with her. Fran [Berry, jockey] said she felt like she had at Navan today. She likes that ground. She’s in the Blandford Stakes here and may come back if the ground is okay, but wouldn’t if there was any mention of firm. The mile and a quarter seems to suit here, but towards the end of the year she may go up to a mile and a half as she keeps galloping.”
