19th Feb 2013
The Irish National Stud season ticket holders were treated to a priviledge morning saturday 9th February. First stop was a visit to the foaling unit where we met Gerry Hanratty our ‘midhusband’ who introduced us to a new born filly who was less than 12 hourse old. Gerry talked about the foaling process and care they provide in the unit. He also mentioned he has a stable made up for his wife who is due to give birth shortly!
Next stop was a visit to the stallion boxes where we met our top sire Invincible Spirit. He paraded up and down for us under the watchful eye of stallion man Paul Hughes.
We then headed to Kildare Yard to meet with our Falabella’s, Homer, Bart and Maggie. There were lots of excited children who petted and fed them some carrots.
In Kildare Yard we also met our Living Legend’s Team, Beef or Salmon, Kicking King, Moscow Flyer, Vintage Crop and Tudor Loom (retired broodmare who is best pals with Vintage Crop) and fed them their favourite treat also, carrots! We followed them to their paddock where Kicking King couldn’t wait to get his clean rug all muddy!
It was then time for some refreshments in the resturant where we tucked into tea and cakes and goody bags for home 🙂
Next event is Vintage Crop’s birthday party Friday 1st March.
