On Tuesday at Brighton racecourse, Volcanology, a two-year-old filly, by the illustrious Phoenix of Spain, became her sire’s 11th individual winner.
Trained by Charlie Johnston and owned by Kingsley Park 33, Volcanology was notching up her just her second career start, winning by a commanding 2 lengths.
Bred by the Irish National Stud Mare Syndicate III, she is the second foal out of the winning mare Kiltara (Lawman), whose Racing Post Rating (RPR) stands at an impressive 99. Volcanology is closely related to some remarkable horses, including Group 3 winner Anam Allta. She also shares her bloodline with the half-sister of Group 1 winner Opinion and Group 3 winner Fox Hunt.
Her performance at Brighton racecourse, coupled with her pedigree, suggests that she may very well progress further over middle distances in the future.
She looks to be another exciting prospect for 2024!
