Marvelman, son of Invincible Spirit delivered a commanding performance in the Group 2 Betfred Park Stakes, asserting his class on a testing soft ground to claim a very convincing victory.
Under jockey Oisin Murphy, Marvelman settled towards the rear of the pack early on, conserving energy while others pushed the pace. As the race progressed, he found his rhythm and began to close in. Two furlongs from home, the move was made — and when he was asked, Marvelman produced a powerful turn of foot that saw him pull well clear of his rivals.
He crossed the line three and three quarter lengths ahead of King’s Gamble, with Audience in third, delivering a performance that emphasized both strength and composure.
Trainer Andrew Balding was full of praise after the race:
“He’s really found his spark of late and was impressive today. He’s generally very consistent and never disappoints.”
The three-year-old was bred by Gigginstown House Stud out of Siyouni mare Varamini, a sister to Group 2 scorer Volta.
Marvelman was purchased by his trainer Andrew Balding for 140,000gns at Tattersalls Book 1 in 2023.
