In a dazzling debut performance at Wolverhampton last night, Lady of Spain, a two-year-old daughter of Phoenix of Spain, made an impressive debut by securing her sire’s 20th individual victory. Under the guidance of trainer Roger Varian, for owners L Boros, R& S Marchant & Toudo Llc, the filly demonstrated her dominance with a convincing 4-length triumph that never saw her coming off the bridle.
Bred by LittleJohn Bloodstock, Lady of Spain is the third offspring of Navette (Invincible Spirit), closely related to Lagomago, a notable two year old winner over distances of up to 1m4f in Italy. This suggests that Lady of Spain may thrive with a step up to middle distances in the forthcoming season.
The shrewd acquisition of Lady of Spain at Tattersalls Book 2 for a modest 40,000 gns showcases the keen eye of her trainer, Roger Varian. With a blend of pedigree, potential, and a seamless debut victory, Lady of Spain emerges as another exciting prospect for her sire.
Phoenix of Spain has made an incredible start at stud, with twenty individual winners including Gr.2 winner HAATEM. We believe the best is yet to come with his three year old’s… Alpheratz, Haatem & Soul of Spain all hold Classic entries in the Guineas, Oaks and Derby.
Phoenix of Spain is standing at €10,000.
