Senorita Vega Blazes Clear at Brighton

Lucky Vega recorded another first-crop winner in Britain when Senorita Vega scored decisively in the Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Brighton.

Trained by Tom Dascombe for owner Russell Jones, the bay filly travelled strongly under Pierre‑Louis Jamin before taking command inside the final furlong. She quickened clear to register a four-length victory in the 5-furlong contest.

Bred by Nuala Lynch and Peter Molony, Senorita Vega is the second foal out of Miss Kittyhawk (Hawk Wing), an unraced mare whose family offers sprinting depth. She was purchased by her trainer and Sackville/Donald at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling sale for €28,000.

Lucky Vega, a Group 1-winning son of Lope De Vega, has quickly made an impact with his first juveniles. Senorita Vega’s impressive debut suggests she could be one to follow in upcoming novice or stakes company this season.
