Phoenix of Spain, promising weekend

To start a big weekend for our sire on form Phoenix Of Spain’s daughter Flying Finn gained her first bit of black type finishing third in the Prix Finlande (Listed Race). The Adrian Keatley trained filly proved she is well capable in listed company only being beaten by one- and three-quarter lengths and staying on gamely.

Next up,  Haatem came a gallant second in the Irish 2000 Guineas. Under a great ride from Jamie Spencer, again Haatem shown himself to be an uncomplicated colt who lost little in defeat. Only beaten a head in the end he was very unlucky not to be crowned a Group one winner, but it certainly looks like there could be one in the pipeline for him.

To finish this top class week, Phoenix had the Gordon Elliot Trained Zaynab win the Quinn Bet Spring Fillies Handicap off a mark of 83. Zaynab was always staying strong and did her best work as she was coming to the line beating the Ballydoyle trained Flight Of Fancy. After this win the filly got a mark of 88 and looks set for better things.
