Last night at Wolverhampton, Lady of Spain, trained by Roger Varian, continued her unbeaten streak, clinching victory in the Novice Stakes. Bred by Littlejohn Bloodstock n out of the Invincible Spirit mare Navette, she was purchased from Tattersalls Book 2 by her trainer for 40,000 guineas.
Meanwhile, Alpheratz (RPR 98), ex Rosie Scott by Holy Roman Emperor, showcased her talent by finishing a close second to Brilliant in the Group 3 Park Express Stakes at The Curragh on Monday. Trained by Joseph G Murphy, she remains firmly on course for the prestigious Group 1 Irish Oaks after being purchased for 15,000 guineas from Lynn Lodge Stud at Tattersalls Sommerville yearling sale.
Rue Custine, ex Pick Pocket by Curlin, delivered a strong performance by finishing second in a valuable claiming race at Compiegne under the guidance of trainer Stephanie Nigge. Acquired for €18,000 by Guy Petit at the Arqana October yearling sale, Rue Custine is a promising prospect to watch.
