Nando Parrado, the 2020 Coventry Stakes hero of Royal Ascot, marked an exciting milestone this week as his first crop of yearlings entered the sales ring at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale. With 10 of his progeny catalogued, the sale saw solid interest in the young sire, reflecting his promising start at stud.
The standout lot was a striking colt out of Jardin d’Hiver, fittingly consigned and bred by Ballyphilip Stud—the very establishment that owned and raced Nando Parrado. The colt caught the eye of Oliver St Lawrence, who secured him for £44,000, with plans for him to enter training under Richard Fahey.
Nando Parrado’s former trainer, Clive Cox, demonstrated his faith in the stallion by purchasing a filly from Sherbourne Lodge, adding further intrigue to the developing story of this young sire’s progeny. Notable buyers also included David Easterby and Mark Usher, who were keen to add Nando Parrado’s offspring to their stables.
The breeze-up consignors have shown particular interest in Nando Parrado’s yearlings, notably Linehan Bloodstock, Pegasus Bloodstock, Kilbride Equine and Johnstown Stud.
With anticipation building, attention now shifts to next week’s Tattersalls Somerville Sale, where Nando Parrado will have another nine yearlings up catalogued.
