Make A Challenge wins Curragh Sprint Stakes

23rd Aug 2020

Make A Challenge, 5YO son of Invincible Spirit was back to winning ways at The Curragh racecourse yesterday when landing the Curragh Sprint Stakes over 6 furlongs for Trainer Denis Hogan, Owners M G Hogan & Walter O’Connor & James Joseph Reilly and jockey Joe Doyle.

Bred by Godolphin, out of the Street Cry mare Crinoline, she is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Saoirse Abu, from the family of classic winners Balanchine and West Wind.

Racing Post Analysis: Make A Challenge is coming into his time of year and on this ground he will be a hard sprinter to beat at a high level. Joe Doyle was happy to take a lead, he travelled like a good horse throughout, and when he was asked to up it a gear a furlong out he just cleared away from them without turning a hair. It was a very good performance and the good autumn sprints on soft ground await him.

Post race Trainer Denis Hogan commented ‘Make A Challenge had his ground today and not too many would live with him on that. This was a stepping stone for the Flying Five here next month. This time last year he came alive, hopefully this year will be the same.’
