Lucky Vega, the only Group 1-winning two-year-old by Lope De Vega over 6 furlongs, made his mark at the Arqana Yearling Sale in Deauville this week, as his first northern hemisphere yearlings hit the sales ring. The former star from Jessica Harrington’s stable, who secured victory in the 2020 Phoenix Stakes (G1) for Yulong Investments, has already become a sought-after name at stud.
Among the highlights, Lot 81, a colt from Baroda Stud out of Bubbling Up, caught the attention of Trainer Karl Burke, who secured him for an impressive €120,000.
Lot 321, a filly out of Supreme Seductress from Jamie Railton Sales Agency, was purchased by Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock, fetching €80,000.
However, a third offering from Coulonces, despite its evident quality, remained unsold at €70,000—perhaps a hidden gem at that price.
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on the upcoming Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale, where six more Lucky Vega yearlings are set to go under the hammer.
Lot 70: colt ex Set Fire (Galbertstown Stables)
Lot 80: colt ex Shawaaty (Jamie Railton Sales Agency)
Lot 304: colt ex Constant Comment (Galbertstown Stables)
Lot 365: filly ex Fluvial (Redpender Stud)
Lot 378: colt ex Golden Temps (Boherguy Stud)
Lot 380: filly ex Grenadine (The Castlebridge Consignment)
The very best of luck to breeders and consignors.
