Lucky Vega continued his strong start with his first European crop as Lam Yai broke her maiden in good style at Carlisle on Saturday.
Trained by Karl Burke and ridden by Clifford Lee, the filly tracked the pace before asserting inside the final furlong to land the 5f furlong juvenile maiden.
Lam Yai was purchased by Kilbride Equine for €135,000 at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale, underlining the strength of her pedigree. Out of One Spirit, an Invincible Spirit mare who was a Listed winner and multiple Group 3-placed performer.
Lam Yai’s professional Carlisle success suggests she could be set for further juvenile targets this summer, with Burke noting her scope to progress further as the season develops.
