Juvenile Graduate strikes on debut

Asmeralda Shines on Debut at Kempton Park

Asmeralda (IRE) announced herself as a smart prospect on Wednesday 10 December 2025, scoring a stylish victory on her racecourse debut in the North Farm Stud Home Of Heros Fillies’ Novice Stakes over 7 furlongs at Kempton Park.

A Winning Start for an Exciting Filly

Trained by the renowned John & Thady Gosden partnership and ridden by Oisin Murphy, the 2-year-old filly justified her position as one of the race favourites with a well-judged performance. Asmeralda tracked the leaders early before making her move approaching the final furlong, eventually asserting a half-length advantage over Pierchic in the closing stages.

The race, a Class 5 novice event for young fillies, featured nine runners on the polytrack surface that was described as standard. Asmeralda clocked a winning time of 1:25.88 and was officially returned at 11/10 in the betting markets.

Pedigree and Potential

Bred in Ireland by the Irish National Stud and owned by Imad Al Sagar, Asmeralda is by Night Of Thunder out of the mare Sea Mona, and was a notable €640,000 buy from the Goffs Orby Book 1 sale.

Gosden’s team have a strong record of developing juvenile talent, and Asmeralda’s performance under Murphy showcased both her speed and racing intelligence, suggesting she could be one to follow through the winter and into the spring.
