Introducing ECHO, Equine Collaboration for Health and Outreach

Introducing ECHO, Equine Collaboration for Health and Outreach, a collaboration of the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise Campus (CAFRE Enniskillen), the Irish Equine Centre, Teagasc, the University of Limerick and University College Dublin (School of Veterinary Medicine) with the mission to provide support and education relating to sustainable health protection of equines.

The ECHO group hopes that in delivering collaborative, cohesive messaging on preventative sustainable health care and management practices which are easy to apply and integrate into everyday farm life that we can positively contribute to both the care of equines and their environment.

The inaugural event takes place on September 12th at the Irish National Stud with a focus on the concept of ‘horse health risk profiles’. Attendees will partake in three distinct workshops on topics to optimise management for healthy horses.

While managing risks with mares, foals, and facilities from pre-to post-foaling will be addressed, the lessons learned can be applied to other categories of equines also.
