Join us on Friday 27th June at the Irish National Stud & Gardens for a hands-on garden workshop with plantsman Jimi Blake, focused on one of the most talked-about challenges in gardening: creating planting combinations that really work.
Jimi, founder of Hunting Brook Gardens in Wicklow, is known for his fearless approach to planting: bold pairings, unusual textures and more. This garden workshop is for any and all gardeners who want to improve their eye for combining plants, whether you’re working with a few square metres or a much bigger space.
The day starts at 11:00am where Jimi will give his insights on what makes good combinations tick – structure, contrast, colour, texture, building interest through the seasons. It’s a deep dive into how Jimi thinks and plans his planting, using real examples from his own work.
A buffet-style lunch in the Japanese Gardens Restaurant follows, before the afternoon continues outdoors. The second half of the day is spent walking the grounds with Jimi as he explores the Japanese Gardens and St. Fiachra’s Garden through the lens of planting combinations – and giving ideas on what you can do at home. Expect expert discussions, questions, and plenty of interaction! The day will finish up at 3:00pm.
This garden workshop offers a chance to think more confidently and more creatively about your own planting, and is an opportunity not to be missed.
Spaces are limited, so book now to secure your place!
