A First British winner for sire Nando Parrado.

Inca Heights (Nando Parrado ex Kitty Softpaws) showed class, professionalism, and no shortage of determination to land the spoils on debut in the colours of Stephen Barrow and Julie Deadman at Newbury on Friday. The colt was purchased from the Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale, by his trainer Clive Cox for 45,000gns from Ballyphilip Stud.

Related to four winners, Inca Heights is bred on speed and precocity, and it showed as he travelled smoothly through the contest before finding plenty when asked to stretch. He looks sure to come on for the run and is expected to be aimed at a Royal Ascot target next, with an extra furlong likely to play to his strengths.

“I know he’s going to take a big step forward and I’m thrilled for Nando Parrado,” said Clive Cox after the race. “He’s been straightforward from day one and really stuck his neck out when it mattered.”

The victory continues a flying start for freshman sire Nando Parrado (GB), who stands at €6,000, and already has two winners from just five runners this season. With a crop of over 90 juveniles to represent him in 2025, the early signs are hugely encouraging.

Interested breeders are encouraged to contact the team today to discuss potential mating’s.
