365 Days of Colour: Garden Masterclass with Nick Bailey

365 Days of Colour: Garden Masterclass with Nick Bailey

For gardeners looking to bring more structure, depth, and colour to their outdoor spaces throughout the seasons, this event offers both inspiration and practical guidance. On Friday 25 July , the Irish National Stud & Gardens will welcome Nick Bailey, horticulturist, writer, and BBC Gardeners’ World presenter, for an exclusive Garden Masterclass.

Nick has over 30 years’ experience in horticulture and garden design, including managing the historic Chelsea Physic Garden in London, designing award-winning show gardens, and prestigious television appearances including hosting BBC Gardeners’ World. He’s known for his creative planting combinations, strong use of colour, and ability to break down design principles in a way that’s accessible, creating colour during all seasons of the year.

His bestselling book, 365 Days of Colour in Your Garden, forms the foundation of the day with the aim to help gardeners of all levels get more from their space, with seasonal planting ideas that work in real-world conditions.

The event runs from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, beginning with a presentation and Q&A and from there, Nick will lead a Walk & Talk through the Japanese Gardens and St. Fiachra’s Garden, using the planting and layout of these much-loved gardens to explore ideas in context.

A buffet-style lunch at the Japanese Gardens Restaurant is included, offering an opportunity to chat both with Nick, with Irish National Stud & Gardens Head Gardener John B. Smyth, and to discuss the day with fellow attendees.

Whether you have a long-established garden or you’re figuring out where to begin, this will be a practical, enjoyable day with plenty to take away.
