Auxilia, daughter of Free Eagle, won impressively at Naas yesterday justifying her favoritism and improving on her debut when second in a Leopardstown maiden. She showed her class a long way from home pulling clear of her rivals to win by 5 lengths. She showed good attitude and is a nice prospect for her sire holding entries in Gr. 2 Debutante Stakes and Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes in the coming weeks.
Auxilia was bred by Declan Phelan of Tullogher House Stud out of the Unfuwain mare Ipsa Loquitur. A Goffs Orby yearling graduate she sold for €140,000 to Gaelic Bloodstock.
Winning trainer Ger Lyons said, “She’s a nice filly. She ran as green as any of ours have ran all summer at Leopardstown on her first start but I loved the way she hit the line.
“I would have been very disappointed if she didn’t win today’s race in that fashion. She’s a filly that wants a mile but is still very raw.
There is a lot to like about Auxilia and we are excited for her future. Congratulations to her winner owners Grunbrook partnership and trainer Ger Lyons.
