What another amazing day it was at Riyadh on Saudi Cup day for Invincible Spirit who once again shone on the world stage with Gifts Of Gold an impressive winner in the 2.5 Million Dollar Red Sea Handicap. He improved massively from his comeback run where he made the running and appeared to relish the step up in distance when staying on to win impressively from a very competitive field. He tracked the favourite Call the Wind throughout the race before pulling clear in decisive fashion and holding on gamely in the final furlong.
Gifts of Gold is out of Sanna Bay (Refuse To Bend) and was bred by Paul Hyland, owned by Godolphin and trained by Saeed bin Suroor.
With this victory Gifts of Gold proved that his sire is still implementing his quality throughout the world on the big stage. Tilts at some of the world’s biggest races have been mooted for him in 2021 now with Dubai World Cup night or a trip to Flemington for the Melbourne Cup both possibilities.
It was also a great night for the owner/breeder of Invincible Spirit Prince Faisal who won the richest race in the world at Riyadh with Mishriff. The son of Make Believe was a hugely impressive winner of the hugely competitive 20 Million Dollar Saudi Cup, beating top American hopes Charlatan and Go Knicks Go on their preferred surface. Already a Prix Du Jockey Club winner in 2020, Mishriff is now clearly one of the highest rated horses in the world.
The Irish National Stud have a very close relationship with Prince Faisal and as such Contradict his dam boarded with us in 2017. We feel very honoured that at 11pm on April 1st that year our magnificent foaling team welcomed Mishriff to the world, and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of his incredible story. Congratulations to Prince Faisal on his achievement.
