Stakes Double for Invincible Spirit

Stakes Double for Invincible Spirit

29th Jun 2020

Two sons of Invincible Spirit recorded a Stakes double for their sire over the weekend.

First up was Ancient Spirit who was backing up his recent Stakes win at Navan by landing the Celebration Stakes at The Curragh racecourse over a mile. Owned by Mr Zhang Yuesheng he was purchased by Michael Donohoe of BBA Ireland.

Post race Jessica Harrington commented   ‘It’s nice to see him back up his win in Navan. He’s a lovely horse and is growing in confidence getting his head in front. He didn’t get things his own way today and had to go after the horse in front. When he’s got there Shane said he did it easy enough.’

The following day at Windsor, Repartee, a 3YO son of Invincible Spirit trained by Kevin Ryan for Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum landed The Carnarvon Stakes over 6 furlongs.  A 310,000 guineas yearling he was bred by Wansdyke Farms Ltd & J M Burke, his dam is unraced half-sister to top-class sire Kingman.

Racing Post analysis; Repartee  got heavily backed on this 3yo debut and was readily on top at the finish. Placed in the Gimcrack last year, he moved best through the race but had to switch off the rail for his effort and needed to be woken up in order to master the second. Reverting to a stiffer test at this trip ought to be ideal, quick ground suits, and he’s got a big one in him down the line.

These are two colts who are definitely on the rise and we are excited to see where they will appear next.
