Sons of Elusive Pimpernel Impress on Chase Debuts

7th Dec 2021

Coeur Sublime and Thedevilscoachman both ran superb races to finish second and third respectively when making their debuts over fences at Punchestown on Sunday. Both of these sons of Elusive Pimpernel settled a few lengths off the leader (and eventual winner) Ferny Hollow and jumped very well on their first runs over the larger obstacles. Coeur Sublime finished 4 lengths adrift of the winner with Thedevilscoachman a further 2¼ lengths back in third before a gap of 12 lengths to the fourth. Both horses showed huge promise for their futures over fences and strong form on the day (finishing behind a Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival winner) which suggests they can both compete at the top level over fences this season. We look forward to following their progress through the season and wish connections of both horses the best of luck with these exciting novice chasers.
