First Stakes Winner For Famous Name

First Stakes Winner For Famous Name

15th Aug 2016

First season sire Famous Name recorded his first stakes win of his stud career over the weekend when Escobar won the Listed Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

The Hugo-Palmer-trained colt won on his debut at Newbury in July and on his return won to the track, beat Mr Scaramanga by one and a quarter lengths. The Champagne Stakes at Doncaster next month may be on the cards for Escobar.

Escobar was bred by Peter Evans and is the sixth foal out of the Group-placed and winning mare Saying Grace. Offered by Croom House Stud at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale last year, the colt was purchased by Amanda Skiffington for €280,000.

Congratulations to all winning connections.
