Moll Dote Maiden Hurdle Winner for Elusive Pimpernel

19th Jul 2020

Moll Dote, 7YO daughter of Elusive Pimpernel, won The Mares Maiden Hurdle at Tramore Races for Trainer Declan Queally, Owner Sean Quirke under Jockey Simon Torrens yesterday. Bred by Kildaragh Stud she is the third foal out of the Fantastic Light mare Annesia, a close relative of Arc winner Carnegie and granddaughter of Arc winner Detroit.

Racing Post analysis ‘Showed a fine attitude to open her account at the 18th attempt. She set out to make all and wasn’t overly tidy at the first but still held the lead until the runner-up took over before six out. Simon Torrens never panicked, though. The seven-year-old winner battled well to get on terms with the second from two out, pulling out more and more as the line approached. She had 10lb to find on ratings with the favourite but was able to impose her authority.

Post race Trainer Declan Queally commented ‘She liked the track and I’d say she is better on a hilly track. I’m thrilled for her owner Sean Quirke from Limerick. He has had her a long time and he has stuck with her. I was just on the phone to him there and he has the sitting room turned upside down’.

We look forward to seeing Moll Dote on a racetrack soon. Congratulations to her winning connections.
