Michael Owen’s Dragons Tail Looks Royal Ascot Bound

12th May 2017

Dragons Tail became the latest Dragon Pulse to hit the headlines after a commanding performance at Chester Racecourse left his connections pondering a Royal Ascot date for the exciting colt.

Bred by Denis O’Flynn of Old Carhue Stud the juvenile is out of the winning Acclamation mare Mastoora. A good looking yearling the son of Dragon Pulse cost connections (which include former England footballer, Michael Owen) €30,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sales.

The colt made an eye catching debut at Leicester last month, finishing third behind a well fancied juvenile with previous experience. He had obviously learnt a lot from his encouraging first run, jumping out smartly and hugging the rail at Chester yesterday. Disputing the lead from the offset Dragons Tail powered into a commanding lead inside the final two furlongs to win by 4 ½ lengths, showing no signs of stopping.

Connections were clearly delighted by the performance but didn’t seem surprised at the colt’s quality or speed with his Trainer Tom Dascombe, hinting that Dragons Tail could well be heading for the Royal Meeting.

We wish all the connections congratulations on the fantastic win and we hope to see you in the winners’ enclosure at Royal Ascot in a months’ time.
