Make A Challenge, son of Invincible Spirit won the Abergwan Stakes at Navan Racecourse yesterday, his second Stakes win in a week after landing the Curragh Sprint Stakes just seven days previous for Trainer Denis Hogan, Jockey Joe Doyle and Owners MG Hogan, Walter O’ Connor & James Joseph Reilly.
Racing Post analysis; Make A Challenge won this much easier than the margin suggests. He got a little bit upset in the stalls, a characteristic he showed in his younger days, and was slowly away as a result. He was able to make the ground up pretty effortlessly and tanked to the lead with a furlong to race. He picked up well enough when asked to go and win his race and was well on top at the line. This will tee him up nicely for bigger and better targets, with the Group 1 Flying Five at the Curragh the most likely next destination. He certainly appears to be the best of the Irish sprinters, especially on this ground.
