Lady Jane Wilde, 2YO daughter of Dragon Pulse made an exciting debut a the Curragh racecourse on Friday evening to land the opening maiden for Owner / Breeder Claire Berry and Trainer Aidan Anthony Howard.
In 18th position 3 furlongs out, Lady Jane Wilde made headway 2 furlongs out into 9th and with over 1 furlong to go she ran on strongly between horses to lead well inside final furlong winning comfortably by 1 3/4 lengths.
Post race Aidan commented ‘ I liked this filly all along. She’s been working with all of our handicappers and doing it very easy. She has a lot of speed so I told Niall to take his time because I wasn’t sure if she would stay the seven but she seemed to stay it out well. Where we go from here I’m not sure. She has no entries. We were coming here to have a good experience and hopefully to be in the shake-up. Niall said she handled the ground well.’
Racing Post analysis ‘Lady Jane Wilde was a bit slowly into stride but she soon improved into mid-division. She began her run inside the two furlong pole and needed some luck in running, but she showed a considerable turn of foot inside the last furlong to get up close home and win going away. The ground clearly was not an issue for her and what she can do going forward is clearly of interest. She has plenty of pace but she saw this out well too and there would not be much doubt about her seeing out a mile on this evidence. She could be exciting.’
