Key Commander, 5YO son of Elusive Pimpernel won the 3m1f handicap chase at Thurles yesterday by 8 lengths for Trainer Eoin Doyle and Owners Mrs P Doyle and Mrs D M McGuire. He was bred by Premier Bloodstock.
Racing Post analysis: ‘Key Commander should have a decent future ahead of him in this sphere and could likely exceed the heights he reached over hurdles, with time on his side as a five-year-old. He pulled out plenty when called on for his effort in the straight and he’s open to a fair deal of improvement.’
Post race Eoin Doyle commented ‘ It took him a few runs as his jumping was sticky but he’s always been a nice horse and won a good hurdle at Punchestown last year – he was running to a good level of form over hurdles. It was a good performance for his first run in a handicap chase and I think three miles is his trip because he’s able to travel well within himself’.
Elusive Pimpernel will stand for €2,500 (In advance of covering) for the 2021 breeding season.
