Irish National Stud launch new for 2020 Mare Syndicate

25th Nov 2019

For those who have dreamed of owning, breeding and selling high quality bloodstock this new initiative launched by the Irish National Stud offers a unique opportunity. We propose to lower the risk of bloodstock ownership and to bring it to a wider network. The market is showing us a greater demand for quality, and on that basis we will focus on buying high quality broodmares through the syndicate. Formed off the recent success of the original INS Mares Syndicate which this season seen members achieve a dream result with our homebred Invincible Spirit colt selling for €330,000 to Godolphin. We have created another opportunity for breeders to own a small share in a portfolio of high-class mares.

In addition to the shares in the stock, members will enjoy frequent social days out to stud farms, stable yards and race-days as well as annual membership to INS Racing and the Irish National Stud & Gardens.

The benefits:

  • Access to high class mares and stallions otherwise unattainable
  • Deleveraged risk across a portfolio of stock
  • Annual capped costs
  • All stock professionally managed and grazed on the highest quality land
  • Membership of a unique club with organised social outings
  • Consistent updates on stock progress
  • Access to a racing club with up to six horses in training at no extra cost

The stud will purchase four high quality broodmares for a total of €500,000, these  mares will ideally be purchased in foal. The resulting foals will then be sold each year and the mares re-covered before selling all stock at the end of 2023. 50 shares in the syndicate will be retained by the Irish National Stud with the remaining 50 shares offered to prospective investors on a first come first served basis. The initial cost per share is €5,000 this forms the fund to purchase the mares. At the end of the year (starting 2020) there will be a maximum of €3000 per share annually to cover expenses such as nomination fees, keep, veterinary costs, etc. This will be deducted from sale proceeds of these animals. All stock is to be liquated at the end of 2023, by this time our first runners will have hit the track and hopefully we can turn a nice profit on the stock.
