Irish National Stud
8th Apr 2015
As part of our centenary celebrations here at the Irish National Stud we are delighted to announce our sponsorship of some significant races in the Irish Flat program for 2015
The Group 3 Irish National Stud Blue Wind Stakes at Naas 13th May with a prize fund of €80,000.
The race is named after Blue Wind (by Irish National Stud sire Lord Gayle), the D.K Weld trained winner of the Epsom Oaks and Irish Oaks in 1981.
The Blue Wind Stakes serves as a trial for the Epsom Oaks and we are delighted to be associated with the feature race on the evening the INS students are given an insight to how a race day happens.
The Invincible Spirit Sapphire Stakes which has been upgraded from Group 3 to a Group 2 for 2015 with a prize fund of €120,000 will take place on Saturday 18th July as part of Darley Irish Oaks weekend. The 5 furlongs race greatly enhances the Irish Sprint programme. Invincible Spirit has sired two winners and a runner up in the last five years, Glamorous Spirit in 2010, Invincible Ash in 2011 and Russian Soul who was 2nd in 2013.
The King George V Cup (sponsored by Famous Name standing at the INS) is the feature Listed race on British-Irish Chamber of Commerce evening at Leopardstown on June 5th. The centenary of Col. William Hall Walkers gift to the nation will be appropriately celebrated that night.
