Celebrate the Hanami on May 1st & 2nd
The Irish National Stud & Gardens, in association with the Experience Japan in Ireland, is celebrating the arrival of the ‘Sakura’ or cherry blossom on May 1st & 2nd. Come and join us in celebrating this unique event.
The ‘Hanami’ or flower viewing is the centuries-old Japanese custom of families and groups all over Japan coming together to enjoy springtime and the viewing of the beautiful ‘Sakura’ or cherry blossom.
A terrific line up of activities including Origami workshops, Taiko drumming performances, face painting and more will take place each day from 12-4.
On Sunday the 1st of May, the Irish National Stud & Gardens will also host Bonsai Enthusiast Ian Young from Northern Ireland Bonsai Society. Ian will be showcasing spectacular bonsai plants, as well as giving a talk and demonstration on bonsai and the management of them. The talks will take place at 11:30, 1:30 and 3:00.
All the regular attractions are still available including an opportunity to meet the Living Legends team, join our guided tours, take the fairy trail route or travel along our stepping stones in the Japanese Gardens for hours of outdoor fun. This is also the perfect time to meet some of our newest arrivals, the foals!
This is a full day out so allow 4/5 hours to really make the most of it. Our restaurant will be serving seasonal recipes along with the usual cakes and treats.
Please note that event is suited to a younger audience.
