Elusive Pimpernel kicked off the New Year in style with a number of nice winners in recent weeks. Soviet Pimpernel scored impressively in a Limerick Grade 3 hurdle race for trainer Peter Fahey and owners Direct Bloodstock. He now looks to be aimed down the Cheltenham path holding an entry in the Grade 1 Supreme Novice hurdle on the opening day of the festival.

Thedevilscoachman ran out an impressive winner of a hot 1m7f INH Flat race at Naas on January 5th. Trained by Noel Meade for owner Joseph Duke, he looked the winner all over three furlongs out and progressed well to dispute the lead two furlongs out keeping on to win easily by 1 ¾ lengths. The form of that race has worked out well in recent weeks with the third home (The Caretaker) and fourth (Hardwired) winning and placing in their next starts.

Exit Poll then lost his maiden tag over hurdles on his third start by winning a 2 mile maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse on the 25th of January. Trained by Jessica Harrington he beat hot favourite Jon Snow by two lengths in what looked a competitive 25 runner race. He would not be out of place in a graded race on his next start. This followed on from Key Commander’s impressive victory in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown on January 15th by eleven lengths. On a mark of 112 he could easily score again in the coming weeks for trainer Eoin Doyle.

A number of his progeny hold entries for the Cheltenham festival including Coeur Sublime(Champion Hurdle), Soviet Pimpernel (Supreme Novices) and Ex Patriot all looking to supply him with a first Cheltenham Festival success as a sire.

Elusive Pimpernel is fully booked for the 2020 season but should you wish to submit your mare for 2021 please email or call the office on +353 45521251.
