Elusive Pimpernel to sponsor ten races at Dundalk.
Mrs Patino is to sponsor a race a day in the name of her Irish National Stud resident Elusive Pimpernel at Dundalk from now until the end of the winter series.
In addition to the the sponsorship the winning breeder of each race will be entered in a draw for a Big Bad Bob nomination. The draw will take place on the podium after the running of the Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes at the Curragh on April 19th and can be used only by the named breeder in either 2015 or 2016.
Dundalk is a wonderful facility with a well maintained track and friendly and helpful staff. It has been a godsend to Irish flat owners, trainers and jockeys who used to be restricted to seven months racing a year. It is also an example of how cooperation between the Racecourse, bookmakers and HRI can work in everyone’s interests.
The racing program is a work in progress. The Elusive Pimpernel races are mainly three year old maidens and the problem is that if you win one there is no where to run until the grass reopens. Likewise any horse with a rating of 75 or over is almost completely excluded. This needs to change.
Mrs Patino will race fourteen sons and daughters of Elusive Pimpernel in 2015 and is determined that he should be given every opportunity to emulate his close relative Big Bad Bob.
