Dragon Pulse has kicked 2018 off to an incredible start. With over 20 wins already and only 2 months into the year, our resident sire looks set to have a very exciting year ahead. He has an outstanding 60% winners to runner’s ratio, making him leading sire in Europe in 2018 by percentage of winners to runners.
Soul Silver, the 90 rated filly trained by David Simcock, won the All-weather Condition Stakes (Fast-Track Qualifier) at Chelmsford, beating the 11/8 favourite; Carolinae. Mr. Simcock is now planning on taking her straight to the All-Weather Finals due to her recent success. ‘We may now take her straight to finals’ day depending on what the owners want to do’ – David Simcock, trainer.
Magic Pulse, trained by David Griffiths, has had 100% strike rate in 2018. Heading out as the 2/1 favourite at Southwell, she then captured her second victory as the evens favourite just 26 days later over 5 furlongs. Dragon’s highest rated horse of 2018, Now Children, is trained by Clive Cox and looks to be a very promising colt. The 4 year old is rated 91 after winning the Betway Live Casino Handicap at Wolverhampton over 1 mile 1½ furlongs. After 508 days break from his last run in September 2016, the son of Dragon Pulse is said to have a very bright future ahead.
Original choice, the William Haggas trained gelding, had a successful season last year with two wins. The first over 7 furlongs at Wolverhampton, beating the 87 rated favourite on the day, Medahim. He then went off as the 5/4 favourite to comfortably win 1 mile handicap at Thirsk by 1¾ lengths. Currently rated 94, Original Choice looks set to have another successful year ahead of him as he is entered in the Lincoln Trial Handicap at Wolverhampton over 1 mile ½ furlong in March this year.
The Jessica Harrington trained stakes performing colt, Mattymolls Gaga, already hit the headlines
last year with an impressive win in the EBF Median Auction Maiden at Leopardstown over 7 furlongs.
The precocious colt was also placed in a listed race in Tipperary in 2017. Mattymolls Gaga, now a 3 year old, still remains in training with Ms. Harrington and is currently rated 91.
And more recently, the Jamie Osbourne trained colt, Kion, won his debut as a 3 year old this year in the 6 furlong Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton. The son of Dragon Pulse beat the 87 rated favourite on the day after 174 days break.
The heir to Kyllachy, now standing for a fee of €8,000, is gaining the attention of breeders and trainers around Europe. The future of our young stallion looks exciting with another year full of winners, and many more impressive runners to come.
