The President’s horse– the three year old Pivotal filly out of Nebraas has rewarded the patience of connections by breaking her maiden on just her second racecourse appearance at Killarney last Tuesday, 14 July. She shaped very well on her first day out at the Curragh on Derby weekend when she was second to a very special looking horse in D.K Weld’s Eshera,
She went off 2/1 second favourite, with JP McManus’s Boherbuoy trained by David Wachman just shading favouritism at 15/8. The bookmaker’s got it wrong on this occasion however, as it was Aimhirgin Lass who shaded the result when staying on well to win by a short head. The well touted Unyielding was next in third having made the running.
Unfortunately, the President of Ireland was unable to attend due to a visit from the President of Germany but he was overjoyed with the result.
“She ran well at the Curragh and we came here because she loves a bit of cut in the ground. She´s had a lot of growing pains but she´s very nice and is of above-average ability, a really nice type who should continue to improve” – John Oxx, trainer of Aimhirgin Lass
