The small number of new stallions in 2012 – we have none – is a matter of some debate. Coolmore created two prospects and bought another, while the Maktoum family created one. The rest of us ought to have had opportunities, but there were few candidates, certainly on our tracking list. We need to find a horse which will be acceptable to our clients at a price we can justify. Just like all the other stallion farms.

Twitter competition to name our first foal of 2012!

Be in with a chance to name our first foal of the year! The grey filly born on 19th January is by Verglas and out of first time mum Dreamaway. To enter you must be 18 or over, closing date is 30th January and all entries must be done through Twitter using the hashtag #INSfoal. A shortlist of finalists will be decided by the stud with the winner being chosen by mum herself!

Lord Shanakill had his first foal last night!

Lord Shanakill (Speightstown ex Green Room) had his first foal Monday evening 17th January. The bay filly out of the stakes producing mare Chiosina (Danehill Dancer) was bred by Pat & Hugh Hyland of Oghill House Stud.
